The tenth MONOPOLY World Championship took place September 19, 1996 at the Hotel Loews Monte-Carlo in Monte Carlo, Monaco. This was the second time the World Championship was held in Monaco. Christopher Woo of Hong Kong was the champion, over a field that included 33 national champions.[1] His prize was $15,140, the amount of money that comes in a set of Monopoly. Christopher's name was also engraved on a World Champion silver trophy. The other four finalists made a pact to split the consolation prizes, so they took home $2,500 each.
